The Late Stan Mossman, his show ...

Sadly, our geust artist for February passed away December 28th, just weeks before his show.  As I type this posting, 17 of his works have been sold, and we expect many more to fly out the door.  Stan Mossman's work is delightful, funny, thought-provoking and so cleverly rendered.  If it's a conversation piece you're after, this artist's work fills the bill.

Opening night, February 1st, people gathered in the Guest Artist Gallery of the Guild and marveled at his ingenuity and sense of humor.  Every piece tells a story.  His daughter, Andrea, was there to explain much of it, speak for her dad and pay tribute to him. We at the Guild are all very saddened at the fact that he could not be there to hear the accolades, and see the paintings fly out the door.  It was a testment to his talent, and we were honored and very proud to be a part of this show.

The One, the Only, Dorothy Starbuck!

Posting this post-show as time got away from me, but Dorothy Starbuck's show was the one of the finest we'd ever had.  She had lots of pieces and they all were terrific.  She was a pleasure to have as a Guest Artist, and a pleasure to have as a houseguest for me both when she installed, and when she dismantled which was a few days ago.

New Season--New Artists--New Look!

The New and Improved Artists Guild Gallery!

The warm glow of our new gallery lights enhances the presentation of artists' work

December's Featured Guest Artist ~

ALSO FEATURED IN DECEMBER ~
Our fabulous artists

Christmas tree ornaments created by our AGG artsts for your Christmas tree or as gifts.  All proceeds from the sales of these little beauties goes directly to "Our Father's Table" of Gifford, helping to make a better Christmas for those in need.  The Santa oil painting above, painted by this blogger, is 16"x20 painted surface, beautifully framed, and is for sale for $350 with 100% of the proceeds going to Our Father's Table.  The Artists Guild Gallery will also be accepting donations for this very important charity.  So open your hearts, 'tis the season to share our bounty.

NOTE:  As of December 20th, $690 has been collected!  Thanks to all of our fabulous artists who took great care to create works of art worthy to be plucked off the tree for a good cause.  This is a surprisingly generous amount to be able to pass on to Our Father's Table, and we are grateful to those who purchased our handiwork to that end.

 COMING IN JANUARY!
For November 5th's Opening Reception, the Artists Guild Gallery presented Highwayman Charles Walker, our Guest Artist for November, two new Member Artists and one new consignor sculptor, and a completely new and upgraded look.  Added to our ambiance was excellent gallery lighting (thank you Judie Ragusa for coordinating this effort with Tim--the best electrician in town!), and some new acoutriments, fixtures and decor to add to the warmth and elegance of the gallery spaces.

As the hour approchaed (5:00 pm opening night), we all waited patiently to hear the accolates of visitors, which were soon to come.  They immediately remarked about the new gallery lights, which gave the evening a new aire of elegance, and presented our art pieces in a much better light.

The Gallery was soon packed with people enjoying the view and chatting happily about the art, and we members proudly showed our work in a new light.  We also took pride in our new artists, new members Alice Ferguson and Judy Rixom, and consinor sculptor George Beckman.  Below are samples of their work.

So stop in and see our soon-to-be decorated Christmas tree and our new look.  If you sign our guestbook we will keep you informed of what's going on at the Artists Guild.  Give yourself some time to browse, there are over 12 rooms of fantastic art by our nineteen Artist Members, and the works of many fine local artisan consignors.  Enjoy!

The Artists Guild Gallery is proud to present for November, the work of Highwayman Charles Wlaker in our Guest Artist Gallery.  Walker's "Dreams of Old Florida" will take you back to the old days when the Treasure Coast was much less developed, and it was a more pristine tropical paradise.  Walker's stunning depiction of wildlife, landscape and waterscapes of old Florida will dazzle you with sizzling images of days gone by.

Join us for an opening reception at the Gallery on Friday, November 2nd, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., during the Art District's First Friday Gallery Strolls.  Visit 11+ galleries, and dine at one of the many restaurants in the Art District.
